A Celebration of Female Power at Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre

Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre proudly announces a landmark moment in its Drum & Bass journey: a Bank Holiday special dedicated to the power, artistry and influence of women in DnB. This is more than a lineup — it is a celebration of passion, persistence and the future of the culture.

On Sunday 3rd May (2PM–10PM), Southsea Cinema transforms into a space where female selectors take centre stage, curating a day rooted in quality, integrity and pure musical experience. This event continues our commitment to high-end programming — thoughtful curation, immersive sound and a crowd that comes for the music first.

Headliner: SWEETPEA

(V Recordings / Sofa Sound / AKO Beatz / Hardcore Energy)

London’s Sweetpea stands as one of the most respected and versatile voices in Drum & Bass today. From pirate radio roots to hosting the BBC Radio 1 Drum & Bass Show in 2021 and 2022, and now holding a bi-weekly residency on Kool FM under the Rinse umbrella, her journey reflects dedication, craft and authenticity.

Her sound is fearless and refined — deep rolling basslines, intricate rhythms, and a seamless blend of classic foundations with forward-thinking energy. Whether performing for Hospitality, Sofa Sound or Rupture, Sweetpea consistently delivers sets that are both technically sharp and emotionally powerful.

Beyond the decks, Sweetpea is a driving force for change. As a key member of the EQ50 collective, she actively mentors emerging talent and advocates for diversity within electronic music. Her work with Pioneer DJ and grassroots initiatives reinforces her role not just as an artist, but as a leader helping shape the future of the scene.

With releases on respected labels including V Recordings, Sofa Sound, Tres-2B, AKO Beatz and Hardcore Energy — and support from BBC Radio 1, DJ Mag, RA, Drum & Bass Arena and Beatport — Sweetpea represents the very best of modern DnB culture.

A Curated Line-Up of Female Talent

Joining Sweetpea are a powerful roster of female DJs including Ty, Andromeda, Panini, Isee1 and Jazzessex, hosted by MC Dunn — together creating a day that honours creativity, community and inclusivity.

This Bank Holiday event is proudly 15+, welcoming the next generation of music lovers while maintaining the high standards and safe environment Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre is known for.

At Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre, we believe music is an art form that deserves intention and respect. This celebration of female power in Drum & Bass is a reflection of our ongoing mission: to bring world-class talent to Southsea and create unforgettable, meaningful music experiences for everyone.
