Statement from the music bands:
“We are Fever Dream, a local Portsmouth band trying to make a dream come true and play gigs to all the people. We take heavy inspiration from 90s to 2000s grunge rock and the current modern ‘indie’ industry. Our platforms can be found on TikTok and Instagram.”
“We are Domino, a 5 piece alt rock band who formed last year. After a few months of rehearsing, writing, and recording we are excited for the opportunity to play our first live event at Southsea Cinema and look forward to what may be in store in the future.”
“We are Spiderbyte an originals rock band that formed last year. We are really excited for our debut performance at Southsea Community Cinema & Arts Centre. Each of us come from different musical backgrounds and training and are looking forward to showing you what we’ve been making. We aim to release our first single soon as we’ve been proud of what we’re producing. Thank you for the opportunity.”
“We are ‘The Rats are Taking Over’, a four-piece band from Portsmouth that formed in 2024. We draw heavy influence from the raw energy of Midwest emo, a subdivision of emo music started in USA in the 90s. We’re excited to bring this to the stage at Southsea Cinema on March 15th. It’s a special gig for us as we get to share our new material with the local community and people who’ve been with us from the start. We can’t wait to see you all there” – The Rats
“Kilowatt are a band that feed off energy. Our goal is to give you a rush of adrenaline you only get once in your life. Being on the heavy side of the scene, we create songs that get you moving, with our first written and a plethora of others well on the way. So, get ready to hang out with us and bang your heads on March 15th at Southsea Cinema.”
Aysegul Epengin, the director of Portsmouth Film Society said:
“We are so excited to host these five young bands. Southsea Cinema & Arts Centre is excited to introduce you to some great music and celebrate our third-year anniversary in Palmerston Road. We believe young musicians need more opportunity to perform in our city. We have “Gig Buddies” and ‘Ragdolls’ using our venue for music rehearsals already. This is only the beginning. We plan to run open mic and open deck nights at our venue regular basis. We invite everyone to join us to see Southsea Arts Hidden Talent in Portsmouth.”
