In anticipation of the Government’s loosening of COVID restrictions in December, Portsmouth Film Society is pleased to announce the winter season of the Southsea Community Cinema at the Portsmouth Pyramids Glass House.
Films will be shown on Friday and Saturday after 3rd of December 2020 within 3 month long winter program. Southsea Community Cinema will deliver world class films providing a much-desired cultural outlet following COVID-19 guidance. We will wait to see what the Government plans further and we will adapt ourselves with the regional tier requirements.
Family-focused programming will favour rich and educational film examples rather than the run-of-the-mill blockbuster films. Film-making workshops will encourage students to produce their mini stories and share them with the public. At the Glass House we will resume the I AM ONLY HUMAN II class for 17 young adult students telling stories on film about how crime in Portsmouth affects them and their peers. The class is being conducted in partnership with the Hampshire Constabulary. Southsea Cinema will also set a regular online film watching program with https://yourscreen.net and kids film club with https://www.intofilm.org
All events are open to the public with screenings free for people who work in NHS as a career. Tickets: £5 or £6 each, can be purchased here:
Southsea Community Cinema wishes to thank our loyal film audience, volunteers and organizations who have supported us over the years to make this dream a reality. In particular, the University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth City Council, BFI FAN Film Hub South West and The Lottery Fund.
We will run a part time cinema with 40 seats and educational activities for all ages. Our screenings will be Friday and Saturday evenings and our educational activities will be Saturday afternoon for winter season. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. admin@southseacinema.co.uk
